Malaysian Minister of Youth and Sports, Hannah Yeoh stated that the government would not bear FIFA’s fines against the Football Association

This statement was made after the government set a budget of 15 million ringgit or Rp. 60 billion to finance the Malaysian national team if they qualify for the 2027 Asian Cup. These funds will not be cut to pay FIFA’s fine of 350 thousand Swiss Francs or Rp. 7.3 billion.
“The allocation is specifically for the Asian Cup and not for other purposes. Every expenditure must be reported to the NSC [National Sports Council] which is monitored by the ministry. Therefore, there is no need to ask about the use of funds for other purposes,” Hannah was quoted as saying.

Furthermore, Hannah also said that the court costs would be borne by the Crown Prince of Johor, Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim.The government will not interfere in this matter.
“Hannah confirmed that the costs would be paid by the Crown Prince of Johor, Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim, not from government allocations,” wrote the Scoop report.
Previously, FAM was officially sanctioned by FIFA following the naturalization scandal of seven players in the Malaysian national team.The seven players of foreign descent were declared to have no lineage born in the neighboring country.
The seven players were also fined 2,000 Swiss Francs or Rp. 41.8 million plus a 12-month playing ban.

The seven players punished were Gabriel Felipe Arrocha, Facundo Tomas Garces, Rodrigo Julian Holgado, Imanol Javier Machuca, Joao Vitor Brandao Figueiredo, Jon Irazabal Iraurgui, and Hector Alejandro Hevel Serrano.
The birthplaces of the seven players’ grandparents are stated to be different.FAM claims the location of birth is in Malaysia, while based on FIFA documents the place of birth is spread across Spain, Argentina, Brazil and the Netherlands.
