The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) said that land access to
Aceh Tamiang
has been successfully penetrated after previously being isolated by the impact
flood
and landslides.
Head of the BNPB Disaster Data, Information and Communication Center, Abdul Muhari, said that by opening this access, it is hoped that it will facilitate the distribution of aid to affected residents.
“Aceh Tamiang can now be accessed from Langkat, North Sumatra. In general, PLN is temporarily supporting energy access in Aceh Tamiang and has shifted and mobilized generators in sufficient numbers so that electricity can be turned on in a limited number of places,” said Abdul in a press conference, Thursday (4/12).

“This generator will also be optimized so that the RSUD operations, which have started to be cleaned today, can start operating immediately,” he continued.
Apart from that, land access from Pidie Jaya to Central Aceh can also be accessed. Then, land road access to Gayo Lues from Banda Aceh, West Aceh, Nagan Raya and Southwest Aceh can also be accessed.
“So previously Gayo Lues and Aceh Tamiang were two districts that were still difficult to access by land, now they are open,” said Abdul.
Abdul said that with the opening of land access to the two areas, fuel supplies will also begin to be shifted to these locations. This also includes logistical support for improving electricity infrastructure.
“This means that from the eastern route, our PR only remains on two bridges, namely Meureude and Bireuen. We hope that the restoration of the bridges can be restored quickly in the next week, so that if, for example, two bridges are restored, the eastern route of Aceh Province will be passable,” said Abdul.
On the same occasion, Aceh Government Spokesperson, Muhammad MTA, said that Aceh Governor Muzakir Mana had also successfully arrived in Aceh Tamiang on Wednesday (3/12) evening.
“Last night, the Governor was able to enter Tamiang at 23.00 by land from Langsa city. He arrived from 23.00 to 03.00 in Tamiang, reporting to us that the condition in Tamiang had started to smell like carcasses,” said Muhammad.
“And according to reports from the public and the governor during the inspection, it was possible that there would be a lot of bodies,” he continued.
Furthermore, Muhammad said that currently the team is still trying to reach inland or coastal areas to be able to evacuate and help the victims.
“Conditions in inland areas that cannot yet be reached by land, the possibilities for penetrating this are currently being worked on, to the interior, to the coast to be able to evacuate victims,” he concluded.
