Head of the National Police Traffic Corps (Kakorlantas) Inspector General Agus Suryonugroho
said law enforcement schemes must prioritize digital governance.
He targets that 95 percent of enforcement will be carried out using ETLE and only 5 percent through manual tickets as a form of situational action.
“ETLE is our way of greeting the public in a humane manner. There are no potentially transactional interactions, everything is recorded and can be accounted for,” said Agus when reviewing the implementation of ETLE at RTMC Polda Metro Jaya, Monday (8/12).

Agus said that currently Polda Metro Jaya operates 127 static ETLE cameras and eight mobile ETLE cameras.Looking ahead, Agus proposes increasing to 1,000 ETLE cameras by 2026.
“The target for adding cameras is not just numbers. This is a manifestation of our seriousness in changing the face of the Traffic Police to be more trustworthy, professional and service-oriented in accordance with the expectations of the National Police Chief, General Pol Listyo Sigit Prabowo,” he said.
Agus said that all ETLE development started from a single mission, namely saving lives on the road.This is because many accidents occur due to violations that are considered minor and repeated.
“With ETLE, we hope that society will be orderly within itself. All this is for safety. There is no other goal,” he said.
In the future, synergy between the National Police Traffic Corps and Ministries/Agencies and Regional Governments will be the key to expanding ETLE camera coverage in Jakarta and other big cities.
This transformation of law enforcement, continued Agus, is a concrete step in reforming the National Police in the field, making it more transparent, more modern and closer to the community.ETLE is not just a violation recording tool but an investment in Indonesia’s culture of orderly traffic.
Meanwhile, the Presidential Staff Office (KSP) assesses that Korlantas’ steps to build ETLE camera-based law enforcement governance are an important foundation towards an accountable digital government.
KSP’s Main Expert from Deputy I, Bhineka Putra Linanta assessed that ETLE was able to close the scope for irregularities while increasing public trust.
“We see ETLE as not just a ticketing tool, but a symbol of new discipline. This system provides legal certainty, reduces physical interactions, and ensures that state revenues are recorded clearly through PNBP,” he said.
