) in collaboration with the Ministry for the Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers (KP2MI) to close opportunities for the practice of online job vacancy fraud which has so far targeted many prospective Indonesian Migrant Workers (
PMI
)
Minister of Communications and Digital Meutya Hafid emphasized that digital platforms have become the main route for people to find work.Therefore, the presence of the state is considered important from the start so that citizens do not fall into false information.
“The state must be present in protecting PMI so that they do not feel like they are walking alone, but are accompanied by a system that protects, empowers and voices their aspirations,” said Meutya at the signing of a memorandum of cooperation between Komdigi and KP2MI in South Jakarta, Monday (15/12).

From January to mid-December 2025, the government has followed up on more than 300 reports regarding fictitious job vacancies and illegal practices targeting prospective migrant workers.
According to Meutya, future handling steps will be carried out more quickly and massively, including through taking down digital content that is deceptive, exploitative and misleading to PMI.
He added that prevention from the initial phase not only protects prospective workers, but also ensures that PMI income can be received in full by families in the country, which ultimately has a positive impact on the national economy.
Apart from that, the government is preparing a practical digital literacy program for PMI and their families.This program aims to help the public recognize the characteristics of online fraud, protect personal data, and direct prospective PMIs to access official information channels.
