Yassierli explained that the calculation of the minimum wage increase was carried out by the Regional Wage Council and the results were submitted to the governor as a recommendation for determination. These provisions are regulated in the PP on Wages which was signed by President Prabowo Subianto on Tuesday (16/12).
In this PP, the governor is required to determine the UMP and can determine the Regency/City Minimum Wage (UMK).Apart from that, the governor is also required to determine the Provincial Sectoral Minimum Wage (UMSP) and can determine the Regency/City Sectoral Minimum Wage (UMSK).
Yassierli said that the 2026 PP on Wages was prepared through lengthy studies and discussions. The government, he said, is using a new formula in determining wages next year.
“After paying attention to input and aspirations from various parties, especially from Workers’ Unions, the President finally decided on a wage increase formula of Inflation + (Economic Growth x Alpha) with an Alpha range of 0.5-0.9,” he said.
He added that this policy was a follow-up to the Constitutional Court decision.
“Of course, the President’s policy is a form of commitment to implementing MK decision Number 168/2023,” said Yassierli.
As a comparison, in 2025 the determination of the UMP will still refer to the Minister of Manpower Regulation Number 16 of 2024 which sets the value of the UMP increase at 6.5 percent compared to the previous year.
