Head of the Population and Civil Registration Service (

) West Sulawesi Province, Muhammad Ilham Borahima was named a suspect in alleged fraud in the procurement of public protection uniforms (Linmas) for the 2024 Election.
Ilham is suspected of committing this crime while serving as Acting Regent of Polewali Mandar (Polman) in 2024.
“The West Sulawesi Prosecutor’s Office delegated it to here (Polman), because the case happened here,” said the Head of the Polman Prosecutor’s Office, Nurcholis, to reporters, Monday (22/12).

Nurcholish explained that Ilham was suspected of committing a criminal act of fraud and embezzling 2,724 pieces of the General Election and Regional Head Election Linmas uniforms.
“Each piece of uniform is valued at IDR 618,000 per uniform item with losses to victims of IDR 1.6 billion,” he said.
As a result of his actions, Ilham was charged under Articles 372 and 378 of the Criminal Code with the threat of a prison sentence of 4 years.
“The suspect will be detained for the next 20 days,” he said.
Separately, the Governor of West Sulawesi, Suhardi Duka, immediately appointed a daily executive to replace Ilham, who was caught in a case.
“We will appoint a PLT or PLH,” said Suhardi Duka in a release.
Suhardi explained that the release of office was in line with the legal status as a suspect now attached to the person concerned.However, the final decision will still be adjusted to developments in the legal process.
“Later, if the defendant is indeed accused, we will release him from his position,” he said.
