Floods Surround Medan City, Residents Climb to 2nd Floor of House

, North Sumatra (North Sumatra) in the last three days since Tuesday (25/11) caused
flood
at various points and soaked residents’ houses.A number of main roads to residential areas cannot be crossed because the water is up to one meter high.
Flooding was also made worse by the overflow of the Deli River, Babura River and Belawan River on Thursday (27/11).Until now, heavy rain is still occurring in Medan City.
Vera (40), a resident of Kampung Lalang, admitted that the water had started to rise since this morning.He and his children were forced to go up to the 2nd floor of their house.

“We have been ready since last night. So the important items have been moved to the 2nd floor. Now my children and I are saving ourselves to the 2nd floor of our house. The flood is strong, this is different from before,” said Vera.
In the Simpang Kampung Lalang area, the flood submerged the road with the water level reaching an adult’s hips.Similar conditions occurred at the Manhattan intersection, where the water flow was strong enough that vehicles had to be careful when crossing.
At the Helvetia Meleleh National Housing Complex, the inundation was reported to have reached around one meter and submerged residential areas.Meanwhile, on Jalan Dr Mansyur towards the USU area, the water was overflowing and blocking traffic flow.
Flooding also occurred on Jalan Gaharu and Jalan Bambu, with water levels reaching knee levels.On Jalan Bhayangkara and a number of intersections leading to Jalan Pancing, two-wheeled vehicles cannot pass due to high flooding.
Similar conditions were observed on Jalan Letda Sujono near the Bandar Selamat toll gate, with water as high as an adult’s knees.Meanwhile, traffic conditions in the UNIMED and UIN Medan Area areas were reported to be completely paralyzed.
The flood also submerged Jalan Yos Sudarso in the Brayan area, as well as the Office Intersection which was impassable to vehicles.The situation is worse in Simpang Canang and the Belawan area, where the water reaches adults’ chests during high tide.
Until now, officers are still monitoring the field, while residents are advised to be careful and avoid flooded paths.
