The Brazil U-17 national team lost to Portugal in the 2025 U-17 World Cup semifinal match. The junior Samba team lost 5-6 in the penalty shootout after the score remained goalless until normal time ended.
Patetuci said that failure to reach the final was not the desired result, even though the Brazil U-17 players performed well.

“Unfortunately this is not the result we wanted. We played well, we had opportunities, but we couldn’t score. This team deserves congratulations. We fought, but we couldn’t get the result we wanted,” said Patetuci as quoted on the official website of the Brazilian Football Association (CBF).
“Now we have to focus on winning the match for third place and representing our national team well,” said Patetuci welcoming the match against Italy which will take place on Thursday (27/11).
After the match against Portugal, Patetuci also brought up Brazil’s progress in the U-17 World Cup since the group phase.In the preliminary round, Brazil met Honduras, the U-17 Indonesian National Team and Zambia.
“We completed the first phase by leading the group,” said Patetuci, explaining the success of winning in three matches.
“We only conceded three times and scored 15 goals. This team performed well in defense and attack,” he explained, describing the abilities of his team.
In normal times, Brazil never loses.Brazil played a total of seven matches with four wins in 90 minutes, two wins on penalties and one loss on penalties.
“Now we must not give up and focus on securing third place,” said Patetuci.
