Minister of Culture Fadli Zon said that the number of cultural heritage sites in the Sumatra region, namely the provinces of Aceh, North Sumatra, West Sumatra which were identified as being affected by flash floods and landslides had increased to more than 100.

“Cultural heritage in Sumatra which has been affected by flash floods and landslides, whether we continue to identify it, the number has indeed increased, previously it was 43, 70, and now the number is more than 100. Because yesterday it was difficult to reach areas that were cut off,” he said.
Minister of Culture Fadli Zon said that the data collection on damaged cultural heritage was carried out by the Cultural Conservation Center (BPK) located in each affected area, where the results showed that the majority of objects experienced light to moderate damage, while a number of others were recorded as experiencing heavy damage.
“We have prepared a budget for aid, especially those with light, moderate and heavy damage. The ones that were most damaged were museums, there were tombs which are also cultural heritage sites,” said Minister of Culture Fadli.
Fadli added that the process of handling cultural heritage affected by the disaster is targeted to start next week by involving the cooperation and mutual cooperation of local residents.
“We have prepared it and we will do it next week in Aceh, North Sumatra, West Sumatra. Soon, later of course we will work together with the local community. We know that our priority was the community yesterday, when a disaster occurred we carried out emergency response mitigation,” said Fadli.
