Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs
Airlangga Hartarto
secure trade deals
United States
(US) and Indonesia are not cancelled.
He admitted that he had communicated with US Trade Representative Jamieson Greer on Thursday (12/12).
“We agreed to complete what was agreed upon by
Leaders Declaration
on July 22,” said Airlangga at the 37th Anniversary of the Indonesian Issuers Association (AEI) at the Indonesian Stock Exchange (BEI), Friday (12/12).

Because of this, Airlangga will send the Indonesian team back to Washington to continue negotiations. The trade agreement is expected to be completed by the end of this year, as directed by President Prabowo Subianto.
“Indonesia is the third country
make a deal
with the US, and we finish what we have achieved on July 22nd.And the hope is that in 2025, the President asked us to finish it.”And this certainly prioritizes the common interests of the two countries, Indonesia and the United States,” said Airlangga.
The trade agreement between the United States (US) and Indonesia is reportedly in danger of being cancelled. The reason is that the US considers Indonesia to be withdrawing from a number of commitments agreed to last July.
However, the US official who leaked this did not specify which specific commitments Indonesia was withdrawing from.
“They are reneging on what we agreed to in July,” the US official said
Reuters,
Tuesday (9/12).
He said Indonesian officials had told US Trade Representative Jamieson Greer that Indonesia could not agree to several binding commitments, and wanted to reformulate negotiations with the US.
Last July, Indonesia agreed to remove tariffs on more than 99 percent of imported goods from the US, as well as removing all non-tariff barriers facing American companies.
On the other hand, the US is willing to reduce import tariffs on products from Indonesia from 32 percent to 19 percent.
