“The President has also explained Whoosh, and I have also said this many times, that Whoosh provides many benefits for society, for the economy and so on. The problem with restructuring has also been conveyed by the President, of course involving the government and Danantara,” said Dony at the Coordinating Ministry for Food, Central Jakarta, Tuesday (11/11).

He explained that Danantara’s portion of responsibility would be focused on operational aspects, while the government would handle parts related to infrastructure.
Dony said this division was a form of cooperation to find the best solution for the sustainability of the Whoosh project.
“Well, this is also the best solution of course, Danantara will of course carry out Danantara’s portion, especially regarding operations with Whoosh and there is also the government’s portion relating to infrastructure. So this has also been conveyed by the President,” he said.
Dony conveyed that the restructuring options carried out by Danantara were in line with Prabowo’s direction, with a focus on improving services and optimizing Whoosh operations so that it could attract more passengers in the future.
“So we are operationally responsible for Whoosh so that Whoosh can be more optimal in providing even better services, and of course hopefully in the future it will carry even more passengers,” he said.
Dony assesses that the collaboration between the government and Danantara in this restructuring is expected to be able to maintain the continuity of Whoosh’s operations while strengthening its economic benefits for society.
Previously, Prabowo stated that the government would be responsible for financing and debt restructuring for the Whoosh high-speed train project.He asked the public not to worry about the debt issue and emphasized that this project was part of public services.
“You don’t need to worry about what the Whoosh fuss is about, I have studied the problem, there is no problem, I will be responsible for all of the Whoosh. Indonesia is not a random country, we don’t think it’s a problem,” said Prabowo at Tanah Abang Baru Station, Jakarta, Tuesday (4/11).
The Whoosh project has an investment value of US$7.2 billion or around IDR 116.54 trillion, with 75 percent of the financing coming from China Development Bank (CDB) loans and 25 percent from shareholder capital contributions.
Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa said the government was preparing a team to renegotiate with China regarding the debt repayment mechanism.
“Later it will be discussed, and maybe Indonesia will send a team to China again to discuss what the exact payment will be,” he said in Surabaya, Monday (10/11).
Prabowo also emphasized that public transportation projects such as Whoosh are not only seen from the profit side, but from the benefits for society, in line with the principle
public service obligation
(PSO) which is implemented in many countries.
