Sister Maria Zrno fabricated a report of being stabbed by a Muslim migrant who was shouting religious phrases such as Allahuakbar.
The stabbing left Zrno hospitalized in Zagreb at the end of November.He was only discharged on December 1.

After leaving the hospital, Zrno reported the stabbing to the police.
While making the report, he stated that an unknown man stabbed him while shouting “Allahu Akbar.”The woman then accused the attack of being motivated by religious hatred, she was quoted as saying

This case then went viral on social media and sparked anger among netizens in Croatia.
Some Croatian netizens even called for the mass deportation of Muslim migrants from the country.Conservative politicians also spoke out, saying the attack hurt Croatia’s principles.
In the midst of the riots, Croatian police launched an investigation.They interviewed a number of witnesses and analyzed evidence.
Investigators also traced the knife Zrno used to a shop in Zagreb.The results of this search showed the nun had purchased a knife before the stabbing.
After conducting interviews and collecting physical evidence, investigators also concluded that the information provided by Zrno did not match the facts.
The discovery that Zrno bought a knife before being injured also provided key evidence that led police to say the nun had staged the attack.
The Zagreb Police Directorate stressed that a comprehensive investigation found no evidence to support the presence of foreign perpetrators or a religiously motivated attack.
The police then concluded that Zrno stabbed himself.
Authorities then plan to file criminal charges against Zrno for providing a false report of a crime.
This issue is in the spotlight when immigration becomes a political problem throughout Europe.
