The first Heated Rivalry was confirmed for January 2025, produced in March 2025, and broadcast in November 2025. Tierney emphasized that he could not do this for the second season.
“It can’t come together next year anymore, because of this time of year last year, I wrote five (book adaptations) straight away, but now I haven’t written anything at all,” Tierney said.

Tierney knows fans are eagerly awaiting the continuation of the Heated Rivalry story in season 2, and can’t wait too long before bringing the series back.He emphasized that he did not want a break for too long until 2027.
“We understand that everyone’s goal is to not wait two years between seasons,” he said.
“And at the same time, I don’t want to release a second season that is rushed and does poorly just because the series is so popular.”
“But we’re well aware that our creative partners are enthusiastic and don’t want to wait too long. We’ll get back to work!”
Heated Rivalry is a series adapted from a series of novels with the same title from the Game Changers series by Rachel Reid.The story focuses on the captains of two hockey teams, Shane Hollander of the Montreal Metros and Ilya Rozanov of the Boston Raiders.
The story of the athletes played by Hudson Williams and Connor Storrie is based on the novel Heated Rivalry which is the second book in the Game Changers series and continues in the sixth book entitled The Long Game.
Heated Rivalry has been confirmed to continue into season 2 since December 19.HBO Max, which holds the broadcast license for the series in several regions, confirmed that it would not be involved in the creative process for the second season.
This series has six episodes with each episode getting a rating above 9/10 on IMDb.Episode five, I’ll Believe in Anything, even received a 10/10 rating based on more than 30 thousand reviews received.
