accident
death on the KM Toll Road.420-200 at the Krapyak interchange, West Semarang District, Semarang City, Monday (22/12) early morning.
Head of Semarang Police Traffic Unit AKBP Yunaldi said the chronology of the fatal accident began when the bus was traveling from the South (Kalikangkung) to the North (Krapyak).
“While passing on a curved road, the driver was allegedly unable to control the speed of his vehicle so it swerved to the right and hit the road divider then rolled to the right,” said Yunaldi in a written statement, Monday.

The bus rollover accident at the Krapyak toll road exit intersection in Semarang City occurred at around 00.30 WIB.
The bus with plate number B. 7201 IV, which was departing from Bogor to Yogyakarta, was reportedly speeding and allegedly lost control and hit a road divider and eventually rolled over.
Basarnas, Semarang Search and Rescue Office, which is carrying out the Special Nataru (Christmas and New Year) SAR Alert at the Kalikangkung Joint Command Post, Semarang City immediately headed to the location to carry out SAR handling.
“We and the joint SAR team from the National Police, Jasa Marga, PMI and others succeeded in evacuating all the victims from the bus that had an accident. There were 15 passengers who died and 19 others were injured,” said the Head of the Semarang SAR Office, Budiono.
He explained that the evacuation process itself was quite difficult because there were some victims who were still in a trapped position and access to the victims was also filled with broken glass.
The team had to get into the overturned bus, reach and open access to the victim, and evacuate him out of the bus with extra care.
“The evacuation process was completed at 4 in the morning (04.00 WIB). The cause of the accident itself is not yet known for certain, but it is suspected that the bus lost control while speeding from Jakarta to Yogyakarta early this morning,” he said.
Finally, at around 04.00 WIB the evacuation process ended and all the victims who had been successfully evacuated were then rushed to the nearest hospital, including RSUP dr.Kariadi, RS.Columbia Asia and RSUD dr.Adhyatma MPH or RS.Semarang Monument.
The number of victims who died was reported to have increased by one person, bringing the total to 16 people.
Central Java Regional Police Chief Inspector General Ribut Hari Wibowo said the bus driver was a reserve driver.
“After we checked, it turned out that the driver of the bus was a backup driver. Then we carried out a crime scene investigation, we carried out an investigation,” said Central Java Regional Police Chief Inspector General Ribut Hari Wibowo, when he visited Dr Kariadi Hospital.
Police are still investigating the cause of the bus accident which killed 16 people.The bus driver will have a urine test to find out whether he is under the influence of drugs or other substances.
“The investigation is still being carried out, the initial suspicion is that it was a single accident. Later we will also test the driver and driver for urine. We will test whether the person concerned used drugs or contained other prohibited substances,” he said.
