“The Ministry of Forestry has said that please use the wood carried by the flood to deal with disasters, such as building bridges,” said Bobby, Friday (19/12).
Bobby explained that a number of bridges that were previously broken due to flooding had been temporarily repaired using logs carried by the current.The wood is cut and used as needed in the field.
“Yesterday the bridge was broken, the logs cut were used to repair the bridge,” he said.
Apart from emergency infrastructure, Bobby said that residents whose houses were damaged were also allowed to use the wood for independent repairs.
“There are still people who have been displaced, their houses are damaged, they need wood for repairs. That’s fine, please use it. But don’t cut down any more, just use the wood you already have,” he said.
Bobby admitted that he continues to coordinate with the district government and related agencies to speed up post-flood recovery and ensure that the basic needs of affected residents are met.
“Logistics assistance continues to be sent to the affected areas,” he said.
Logs were carried away by flash floods in a number of areas of Aceh, North Sumatra and West Sumatra.These large logs cover river flows and reach residential areas.
Apart from that, these logs were also carried to the coasts of West Sumatra, North Sumatra and Aceh.The presence of this wood makes it difficult for people to carry out their activities and the evacuation process.
