In the midst of many fatalities and quite a lot of material losses, the Indonesian government has not declared national disaster status.
Meanwhile, Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto chaired a limited meeting with a number of Red and White Cabinet ministers at his residence in Hambalang, Bogor, West Java some time ago to intensely discuss the handling of the disaster.
Prabowo ordered the restoration of electricity by tonight.
“In West Sumatra the electricity is almost completely turned on, while in North Sumatra there are still several points, such as in Langkat and Tapanuli, where the electricity has not been turned on. Likewise in several areas in Aceh. The President has also ordered that no later than tomorrow evening, the electricity must be fully turned on,” said Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya.
Prabowo, said Teddy, also ordered that all land road access in disaster-affected areas must be restored immediately, and temporary bridges could be completed immediately.
Apart from that, fuel supply must be available quickly, and logistics needs must be sufficient, not lacking.
He said Prabowo continues to monitor the situation on the ground from time to time and ensures readiness to revisit the affected areas.
“In particular, the President also immediately gave instructions to speed up recovery in areas where land routes are still cut off, such as Takengon and Bener Meriah. These routes must be connected immediately,” he added.
