or changing IDR 1,000 to IDR 1 takes up to six years.
Perry said the rupiah redenomination process was quite long.This policy began with the issuance of the Law on Changes in the Rupiah Price (Redenomination).
“The process will have to be parallel. It will take approximately five-six years from the time the law is passed until it is completed,” said Perry in a working meeting with Committee IV DPD RI, Monday (17/11), as reported

Perry explained that the issuance of the Redenomination Law was the first stage that had to be passed.If the law has not been issued, redenomination cannot be carried out.
After that, the government must develop price transparency regulations for goods traded in Indonesia.
This step is crucial so that people are not confused during the transition period.This rule is also important to ensure that redenomination does not change the value of goods.
“There must be regulations regarding price transparency. As has been the case in the past, if we go to the area, one cup of coffee is Rp. 25 thousand, there is Rp. 25 thousand for a small empty, there is 25K, but this is not all. Price transparency is very important,” he said.
The next stage is BI designing and printing new money.The final stage is the transition period, the new and old rupiah will apply simultaneously in society.
Previously, Minister of Finance Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa planned to implement a policy of changing IDR 1,000 to IDR 1 in 2027.
He expressed this through Minister of Finance Regulation (PMK) Number 70 of 2025 concerning the Ministry of Finance’s Strategic Plan for 2025-2029.
“The Bill on Rupiah Price Changes (Redenomination) is a draft bill which is planned to be completed in 2027,” reads PMK 70/2025 which was signed by Purbaya.
