Following a powerful eruption
Mount Semeru
which triggered hot clouds to glide more than 13 kilometers, Lumajang Regent Indah Amperawati declared an Emergency Response status for seven days.
This status is valid from 19 to 25 November 2025, as stated in Regent’s Decree Number 100.3.3.2/595/KEP/427.12/2025.
Regent Indah emphasized that establishing emergency response status is a quick and integrated step to deal with the impact of disasters, with the main priority being the safety of residents.

“I have issued an emergency response status for seven days,” said Indah, Thursday (19/11) evening.”This emergency response status ensures that we can move quickly, precisely and in a coordinated manner in dealing with disasters,” he added.
The regional government immediately activated refugee centers equipped with medical services, logistics and the latest information.A joint team consisting of BPBD, TNI, Polri and volunteers is also on full alert to accompany the community during this critical time.
Indah asked the public to remain calm and comply with government directions.Coordination between villages, sub-districts and district governments continues to be strengthened to ensure that no residents are still in the red zone or dangerous areas.
“When we work together, solidarity and preparedness will become our strength,” stressed Indah.He added that the emergency response decision also opened up opportunities for faster post-eruption recovery, including restructuring public facilities.
Eruption and Alert Level Status
Mount Semeru experienced a significant eruption on Thursday (19/11) afternoon, which took place from around 14.13 WIB to 18.11 WIB.This eruption produced a maximum amplitude of 45 mm and hot clouds that shot towards the South Southeast (Besuk Kobokan) for more than 13 km.
Even though the flood vibrations were no longer recorded at 19.56 WIB, Mount Semeru’s Activity Level is currently at Level IV or Warning.Following this increase in activity, the Mount Semeru to Ranu Kumbolo climbing route was declared completely closed.
