This action was taken after the ‘Report Pak Amran’ channel received reports of illegal levies (extortion) on four-wheeled tractors at 99 points in various regions.
“I immediately terminated the ministry employee today. He admitted that he was the director general in the field, even though he was a staff member. I asked him, he admitted it, he said he made a mistake. This is a crime. There is no compromise,” said Amran at a press conference at the Ministry of Agriculture, South Jakarta, Friday (28/11).

The extortion method was revealed after farmers reported requests for IDR 50 million to IDR 100 million per tractor unit, there was even one point of extortion that reached IDR 600 million.Amran emphasized that all government assistance is distributed free of charge and there should be no charges whatsoever.
Government assistance programs that are free of charge include tractors and other machinery, seed assistance, plantation plant seed assistance, and other assistance programs sourced from the State Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBN).
“There is a levy of IDR 50 million to IDR 100 million per tractor. At one point it even reached IDR 600 million. This is inhumane. Government assistance is free for the people,” he said.
According to him, the staff were not structural officials, but ordinary staff at the Directorate General of Food Crops who claimed to be the director general when they went to the field.Amran said the perpetrator finally confessed after being summoned directly.

Amran ensured that all evidence related to extortion, including transactions and reports from the public, had been submitted to law enforcement.He said the Food Task Force would also pursue external parties suspected of being involved.
“We won’t let anyone escape. I’m chasing them. This is state money, people’s money. Farmers are already having enough trouble, don’t squeeze them any more,” he said.
Amran said that cases of tractor extortion were identified at 99 points with potential losses reaching billions of rupiah.He said there were parties outside the ministry who were also said to be collecting money from farmers.

The ‘Report Pak Amran’ program which was opened in the last few days is said to have shown high effectiveness.Amran said that more than 2,890 reports were received in a week, of which 500 reports had been followed up.
The cases currently being investigated include alleged irregularities in subsidized fertilizer involving 90 distributors, as well as irregularities in agricultural machinery at 99 points.
