“This seems to be a broader agenda to cleanse Palestinians from Palestinian land to various places in the world,” he told journalists in Johannesburg on Monday (17/11), quoted
Al Jazeera
.
He then said, “We don’t want any more flights towards us, because this is clearly an agenda to cleanse ethnic Palestinians from Gaza and the West Bank.”
Last week, a charter plane carrying 156 Palestinians arrived in South Africa. They were stuck for 12 hours on the plane due to administrative problems.
South Africa finally allowed them to leave the plane after the humanitarian aid organization Gift of the Givers promised to provide accommodation for them.Of the hundreds of people, 130 were in South Africa and the rest took flights to other countries.
At the end of October, a chartered plane carrying 176 Palestinians also landed in Johannesburg.
The Israeli authorities, through the agency in charge of civil affairs and the Palestinian territories (COGAT), stated that before flying they had received permission from a third country, without specifying which country in question.
Hundreds of Palestinians who arrived without documents in South Africa were allegedly flown in by the Al-Majd Europe organization, which is accused of acting in coordination with Israeli authorities.
Israeli media said the organization was led by a dual Israeli-Estonian citizen named Tomer Janar Lind.Lind is said to have worked with a unit in the Israeli military tasked with forcibly removing Palestinians from Gaza to facilitate several such flights.
According to reports
Haaretz
, Lind did not deny arranging flights for Palestinians, but he refused to divulge further information.
On social media, Al-Majd circulated advertisements stating that they were coordinating “evacuations from conflict zones”, and charged a modest fee.Palestinians who left for South Africa last week said they paid US$2,000 or around Rp. 33 million per person to board a chartered plane.
One of the Palestinians on the plane, Loay Abu Saif, admitted that he heard about Al-Majd from social media advertisements.
Saif said he didn’t know when he would leave Gaza, until the day before when he received news that passengers could only bring small bags, cell phones and some cash.
They were taken by bus from Rafah in southern Gaza to the Karem Abu Salem border crossing (known as Kerem Shalom in Israel), where they were screened, then transferred to Ramon airport in Israel, without Israeli authorities stamping their travel documents.
