Hundreds of thousands
workers
throughout Indonesia there will be demonstrations demanding an increase in the Provincial Minimum Wage
(UMP) 2026
ranges from 6.5-10.5 percent.
The demonstration will be held a day after the Ministry of Manpower (Kemnaker) announces an increase in the 2026 UMP on November 21.
“The Coalition of Trade Unions and the Labor Party, including KSPI, will hold two major actions. The first action will be on November 22 2025. Hundreds of thousands of workers in industrial cities throughout Indonesia will take to the streets. Said said that this demonstration was a form of rejection of the Ministry of Manpower’s calculation of the 2026 UMP increase.
Based on the information Said received from the Wage Council, the Ministry of Manpower will use a certain index of 0.2 and will make the 2026 UMP only increase by 3.75 percent or around IDR 100 thousand.
“By using the Minister of Manpower’s formula, a certain index of 0.2, inflation of 2.65 percent, economic growth of 5.12 percent, we find an increase in the minimum wage of only 3.75 percent. The wage increase is below economic growth, namely 5.12 percent,” he said.
In Jakarta, said Said, the demonstration will be centered at the State Palace or the DPR RI Building. He also claimed that this demonstration would paralyze industrial cities.
“As soon as (UMP) was announced by the Minister of Manpower, on November 22, all workers took massive action at once. Industrial cities were paralyzed, in the sense that they were paralyzed because people took to the streets,” he said.
Minister of Manpower Yassierli himself has not disclosed the size of the specific index or the increase in the 2026 UMP. He asked workers to be patient because this will only be announced on November 21.
“We continue to carry out social dialogue, getting input from fellow trade unionists, labor unions and from Apindo businessman friends. Just wait,” said Yassierli in his office, last Wednesday (12/11).
