The protected animal was sold to an American (US) citizen living in Lhokseumawe, Aceh for IDR 7.5 million.
Medan Police Chief Commissioner Pol.Jean Calvijn Simanjuntak said the ASM suspect was a resident of Jalan Tuba IV, Gang Perintis 6, Tegal Sari III Village, Medan Denai District, Medan City.

“The suspect was arrested by a team of investigators on Jalan Sunggal, Sunggal Village, Medan Sunggal District, Medan City, precisely at the Putra Pelangi Bus Counter on Wednesday (8/10),” said Police Commissioner Jean Calvijn Simanjuntak, Friday (14/11).
The disclosure of this case began with public reports.Then, the team carried out reconnaissance.At around 22.30 WIB, the police managed to find ASM who was carrying a cardboard containing a preserved bear.
“Based on the results of the examination, ASM admitted selling the sun bear to a buyer with the initials AS

social media (social media),” he explained.
He said that from the investigation, ASM admitted to selling these protected wild animals since 2022.ASM once sold bear nails to crocodile skeletons.
“Meanwhile, the preserved sun bear was sold by ASM for IDR 7.5 million. He got the item from someone with the initials D for IDR 2.5 million. The suspect ASM is also part of a community for buying and selling protected animals on social media,” he explained.
According to Jean Calvijn, the suspect ASM was charged with Article 40 A paragraph one letters E, F, H in conjunction with Article 21 paragraph two letters B, C, G of Law Number 32 of 2024 with a maximum threat of fifteen years in prison.
“The suspect ASM was detained to be held accountable for his actions. Officers are still carrying out developments and hunting down the other perpetrator, namely D, who sold the preserved bear to ASM,” he concluded.
