“Commission VII DPR RI, through its meeting today, intends to monitor the polemic that has emerged in the public space regarding the alleged use of AMDK raw materials that are not in accordance with the claims of mountain water sources that have been promoted by AMDK producing companies,” said Evita at the Hearing Meeting (RDP) at the DPR RI, Central Jakarta, Monday (10/11).
Evita said the DPR wanted to receive a direct explanation from the AMDK company regarding the water source used to straighten out the information that had been circulating.
“So we all don’t just hear and read from the media, we also want to hear clarification directly from companies as AMDK producers in Indonesia. We also want to know where the actual source of water that is used is, whether these regulations are in place or not,” he added.
Evita also said that the meeting was to listen to the AMDK raw material standardization policy set by the Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin).
This policy was conveyed by Plt.Director General of Agro Industry Putu Juli Ardika and Head of the Industrial Services Standardization and Policy Agency (BSKJI) of the Ministry of Industry Emmy Suryandari.
“This meeting is the main forum to hear policies regarding standardization of raw materials for bottled drinking water from the Director General of Agro and the Head of BSKJI, Ministry of Industry, as well as direct clarification,” said Evita.
In the meeting, PT Tirta Investama as the producer of AQUA confirmed that it uses mountain water as raw material.
However, Danone Indonesia Vice President General Secretary Vera Galuh Sugijanto explained that his party uses a drilling system to obtain water from deep ground sources that have been protected for hundreds of years by layers of rock.
“Our permit conveys that drilling is a way that must be done to get water from deep ground sources or what we call confined aquifers or protected aquifers,” said Vera at the meeting.
Furthermore, PT Tirta Fresindo Jaya as the manufacturer of the Le Minerale brand uses deep groundwater sources below 80 meters to 120 meters (deep aquifer). The water comes from catchment areas above 800 meters.
PT Panfila Indosari, producer of the RON 88 brand, uses spring water taken directly from rock crevices in the mountains of Mount Mandalawangi, Cicalengka, Bandung Regency, West Java.
Then, PT Muawanah Al Ma’soem, producer of the Al Ma’soem brand, uses the Manglayang mountain spring in Cileunyi, Bandung Regency, West Java.
The manufacturer of the Amidis brand, PT Amidis Tirta Mulia, uses underground water sources using the distillation method.
Next, PT Sariguna Prima Tirta, the producer of the Cleo brand, uses deep underground water.Likewise, PT Jaya Lestari Sejahtera as the producer of the Le Yasmin brand uses deep well groundwater sources.
Meanwhile, Pristine producer, PT Super Wahana Tehno, uses Mount Pangrango spring water.
There are several conclusions regarding the standardization of AMDK raw materials in accordance with Permenperin No. 96 of 2011, Permenperin No. 62 of 2024, and PermenESDM No. 14 of 2024.
First,
Commission VII DPR RI asked AMDK companies to provide written data regarding business permits, source of raw materials for AMDK, production capacity, number of employees, as well as the amount of taxes and levies.Apart from that, companies are also asked to be honest and transparent with the public about the sources of their water raw materials.
Second,
Commission VII DPR RI asked the Director General of Agro Industry and the Head of Standardization at the Ministry of Industry to formulate policies for the utilization of water resources, including the implementation of green industry.
Lastly,
DPR Commission VII will also form a working committee (Panja) for the AMDK industry to formulate policy recommendations for AMDK industry governance.
