or better known as

Purbaya outlined this plan in Minister of Finance Regulation (PMK) Number 70 of 2025 concerning the Ministry of Finance’s Strategic Plan for 2025-2029.
“The Bill on Rupiah Price Changes (Redenomination) is a draft bill which is planned to be completed in 2027,” quoted from PMK 70/2025 which was signed by Purbaya.

Purbaya’s reason for redenominating the rupiah is economic efficiency.
He also made the redenomination of the rupiah a strategy to maintain the continuity of national economic development, a stable value of the rupiah as a form of maintaining people’s purchasing power, and increasing the credibility of the rupiah.
Purbaya assigned the Directorate General of Treasury (DJPb) of the Ministry of Finance to be responsible for the redenomination of the rupiah.
Apart from the redenomination of the rupiah, Purbaya is also preparing two new draft laws.The Appraisal Bill is targeted this year and the Auction Bill and State Assets Management Bill are targeted in 2026.
“In order to achieve the Ministry of Finance’s strategic goals and objectives, four bills are being proposed which fall within the scope of the Ministry of Finance’s duties as stipulated in the 2025-2029 medium-term national legislation program,” was quoted from the regulation.
Even though Purbaya has planned it, the redenomination of the rupiah still requires a lot of preparation.Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto even admitted that he did not know about the plan.
