The Vietnam U-23 national team became men’s soccer champions after winning 3-2 over hosts Thailand.In this match, Sang Sik’s men trailed 0-2 in the first half.

This dramatic victory led to Sang Sik being accused of using shamanistic practices on the gridiron.

“I don’t like or hate it when people think I use black magic. What I do is continuously prepare with the players to produce great matches for the fans,” explained Sang Sik, quoted from

In the final match, Sang Sik explained that his team could not control the match in the first half so they conceded first.Only in the second half of the match, Vietnam was able to perform well because it was also supported by the players’ excellent physical strength.
The coach from South Korea also explained about Vietnam’s weaknesses in the first half which were exploited by the host team.
“The players were so tense in the first half, so they couldn’t show what they had prepared. Trailing 0-2 was worrying,” said Sang Sik.
The coach, who was a defender for the South Korean national team in the 2000s, revealed the words he said to raise the enthusiasm of the Vietnam U-23 national team.
“I told them, ‘We have to show what we have prepared, because if we let the match go as it is, we will really regret it’,” said Sang Sik.
“I also emphasize that the players can show everything they have prepared, the team can turn things around when the score is still 0-2,” he added.
