The Attorney General’s Office (Kejagung) took over handling the alleged case
blackmail
involving prosecutors in the Banten region from the Corruption Eradication Commission (
Corruption Eradication Commission
).
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) previously uncovered this case through a sting operation (OTT) which was carried out on Wednesday, September 17 2025.
“We would like to convey that in connection with coordination and also in the context of collaboration in handling criminal acts of corruption between the Corruption Eradication Committee and the Attorney General’s Office, we have handed over people and also evidence that we arrested in the context of being caught red-handed,” said Acting Deputy for Enforcement and Execution of the Corruption Eradication Commission Asep Guntur Rahayu in a press conference at his office, Jakarta, Friday (19/12) early morning.

Asep explained that the Attorney General’s Office had already handled the alleged extortion case involving prosecutors in the Banten region who were caught in the OTT.
“Then we communicated with our colleagues at the Attorney General’s Office and it turned out that there, indeed, these people had become suspects and an Investigation Order had been issued,” said Asep.
Sprindik was published on KPK OTT day
The legal basis for consideration of the transfer of the case was the Investigation Order (Sprindik) which was issued on Wednesday, December 17 2025. On that day, the Corruption Eradication Committee carried out the OTT.
When confirmed regarding the timing of the publication of the Sprindik, the Secretary of the Deputy Attorney General for Intelligence (Ses JAM Intel) at the Attorney General’s Office, Sarjono Turin, claimed that his party was not aware of the OTT activities carried out by the KPK.
“If I’m not mistaken, December 17 2025, because this is a long process,” said Sarjono at the KPK office, early Friday morning.
“We actually didn’t know there was a KPK OTT, but we published it earlier on December 17 2025,” he added.

Sarjono gave a guarantee that the Attorney General’s Office would process the law against prosecutors in the Banten region who were suspected of being involved in extorting foreign nationals (WNA) from South Korea in a transparent, accountable and thorough manner.
“From this collaboration, tomorrow we will follow up on the handover of these two suspects at the Attorney General’s Office in the Round Building, so tonight because it is getting late and we are both in a state (tired), especially those arrested earlier are already quite tired, so we ask for time to provide further explanations tomorrow at the Attorney General’s Office,” he said.
