The Philippines stated that there was no evidence that areas in its country were holding training for terrorists.
Meanwhile, immigration officers reported that Sajid and Naveed were staying at the GV Hotel, Davao City, room number 315 on November 1.They paid 930 pesos or around Rp. 265 thousand per night for a small room and a bed for two people.
Davao is a metropolitan city in the east of the southern main island of the Philippines, Mindanao.Islamic militant groups reportedly operate in impoverished areas of central and southwest Mindanao.
Hotel Reception Manager Angelica Ytang said Sajid and Naveed left their room for an hour or more every day and mostly kept to themselves.
“They are not as friendly as other foreigners. Other foreigners usually chat with me, but they don’t,” said Angelica.
During interactions, Angelica also spent more time with Naveed while her father always looked down and avoided eye contact.
He also said that father and son never discussed the purpose of their visit.The two people, continued Angelica, often left the hotel in the morning.
