PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (
BRI
) responded to the elimination of people’s business credit debt (
KUR
) for micro, small and medium enterprises (
MSMEs
) who were affected by the flood-landslide disaster on Sumatra Island.
BRI President Director Hery Gunardi said his bank did not have MSME customers in Aceh, only in North Sumatra (North Sumatra) and West Sumatra (Sumbar). However, he does not have exact figures for the number of KUR debtors and debts that will be written off.
“It’s not big (the amount of debt), I don’t have numbers
exact
“said Hery when met at the BRILiaN Tower, Jakarta, Tuesday (16/12).

Hery ensured that the amount of KUR debt written off was not large so it would not have a significant impact on BRI’s financial condition.
“BRI is really big, right? In my opinion, compared to banks
wide
like scratching your cheek,” he continued.
MSME Minister Maman Abdurrahman previously said the government would write off KUR debt for MSMEs affected by disasters in Aceh, North Sumatra and West Sumatra.
Maman said that currently ‘little people’ businesses affected by floods and landslides will be mapped according to a number of criteria based on the impact felt. For example, whether the impact is permanent or semi-permanent.
“We will formulate the steps. However, right now BNPB is focusing on disaster management, if we focus on economic recovery,” said Maman on the sidelines of the 2025 BIG Conference at the Raffles Hotel Jakarta, Monday (8/12).
However, Maman still cannot confirm the value of the KUR debt and the number of MSMEs that will be written off. This is because conditions in Aceh, North Sumatra and West Sumatra are currently not conducive.
“The most important thing is that we agree first that we first map out which MSMEs are affected,” said Maman.
The Financial Services Authority (OJK) is implementing credit restructuring for disaster victims on the island of Sumatra for the next 3 years.
Chairman of the OJK Board of Commissioners Mahendra Siregar emphasized that credit restructuring is permitted in OJK Regulation (POJK) Number 19 of 2022.
Mahendra explained that there were 3 main elements in the credit restructuring process for disaster victims in Aceh, North Sumatra (North Sumatra), and West Sumatra (Sumbar).
”
First,
the implementation of credit restructuring from banks and financing from all existing financial institutions.”Whether it is multi-finance financial institutions, microfinance institutions, and everything in between,” he explained at a press conference at the Coordinating Ministry for the Economy, Central Jakarta, Tuesday (16/12).
“Valid for 3 years, for all provinces (Aceh, North Sumatra and West Sumatra) with all credit size limits,” he continued.
Second,
OJK emphasizes that the credit status granted by restructuring is considered current or current. This relief allows disaster victims to apply for new credit or financing, according to their needs.
Third,
restructuring for credit with a value of up to IDR 10 billion.
