Mualem made this statement at a press conference after determining the extension of the Aceh hydrometeorological disaster emergency response status, at the Aceh Governor’s pavilion restaurant, in Banda Aceh.
Previously, Mualem received five Chinese volunteers to help carry out searches for flood and landslide victims in Aceh.These Chinese volunteers were equipped with body tracking devices.
Mualem said that, based on reports from the volunteers, they were overwhelmed by sweeping due to the large amount of wooden debris carried by the flash flood.However, the team has recovered several bodies.
“It was overwhelming for them to get bodies. But I heard the news that two days after he came down, several people had been found in North Aceh,” he said.
Meanwhile, continued Mualem, the Chinese volunteer team has confirmed that they have requested to move the sweeping area from previously North Aceh, to East Aceh and Aceh Tamiang Regencies.
“Tomorrow [Thursday] maybe they will move to East Aceh or Aceh Tamiang to detect the presence of bodies,” said Mualem.
