to Indonesia starting in early 2026 to strengthen defense equipment capabilities and support humanitarian operations in disaster preparedness, considering that Indonesia is located in the ‘ring of fire’ area which is prone to disasters.
This was conveyed by Pribawo in his speech at the peak of the 61st anniversary of the Golkar Party in Jakarta, Friday (5/12), when he mentioned the government’s quick response to the major flood disaster that hit the Aceh, West Sumatra and surrounding areas.

“This week, 5 new helicopters have arrived this week, and they continue to arrive and I have ordered that from January next year onwards, we will bring in 200 helicopters,” he said starting his speech, reporting

On that occasion, Prabowo expressed deep empathy for residents affected by the disaster.
He emphasized that even though Indonesia is often tested by disaster, this nation is always able to rise thanks to the collective strength and fast work of all components of the country.
He highlighted that in this flood event, the state moved swiftly by deploying 50 helicopters which were already operating in the affected areas.
Prabowo then revealed that five additional helicopters had just arrived this week and that fleet strengthening would continue.
According to Prabowo, procurement of defense equipment is not only for defense, but also an urgent need to face the geographical reality of Indonesia which is in the ‘ring of fire’ area, making it vulnerable to disasters.
He responded to criticism from some parties who questioned the purchase of defense equipment in large quantities.The President emphasized that leaders must be able to look far into the future and prepare the country to face the worst scenario.
“If there is a disaster, if there is a disaster, even if there is a war, we cannot go to a shop to buy a helicopter, there are none,” said the President.
He added that the government will continue to mobilize all capacities, including the recently arrived Hercules C-130J and Airbus A400 transport aircraft, to accelerate the recovery of disaster victims throughout the country.
