) informed that there are four districts/cities affected by flood and landslide disasters in Sumatra that have entered the status
emergency transition
.
BNPB data on Tuesday (16/12) stated that there were three districts in Aceh Province that had entered emergency transition status.Namely Southeast Aceh, Subulussalam, and Aceh Besar.
“Meanwhile for North Sumatra Province, only Padang Sidempuan City has just entered emergency transition status,” said Head of the BNPB Disaster Information and Communication Data Center Abdul Muhari during a press conference, Tuesday.

Muhari explained that if an area enters emergency transition status, it means that no search and rescue of victims will be carried out.
Districts/cities that have entered emergency transition status will begin to focus on planning the construction of temporary shelters (Huntara) and general recovery.
“So in this Emergency Transition, the search and rescue aspects are no longer carried out because they have entered the emergency transition, and are starting to focus on initial recovery including planning for temporary shelter and recovery in general,” he explained.
Update on flood victims December 16 2025
The number of victims who died due to floods and landslides on the island of Sumatra increased to 1053 people.There were a total of 23 additional deaths from the previous day, namely 1,030 people.

The additional death toll was detailed at 18 people in Aceh Province, with details of 17 people in Aceh Tamiang and one person in North Aceh.Meanwhile in North Sumatra there were five additional people in Central Tapanuli.
So the total number of deaths is 449 people in Aceh Province, 360 people in North Sumatra Province, and 244 people in West Sumatra Province.
Then today’s missing list decreased by 6 to 200 people from the previous 206 people.
Meanwhile, the number of refugees has decreased to 606,040 people.This number decreased from the previous day, namely 608,980 people.With Aceh still having the status as the province with the most refugees.
“Most of our brothers and sisters who are still displaced are still in Aceh Province, 571,201 people. Then North Sumatra 21,579 people and West Sumatra 13,260 people,” he explained.
