“There are 62 families affected by the tidal flood in two villages in Tomini District,” said Head of Central Sulawesi BPBD, Akris Fattah Yunus in a release, Monday (8/12).
Tidal floods occurred on Saturday (6/12) at around 16.00 WITA and submerged Tingkulang Village and West Tomini Village, due to sea water overflowing.

“Sea water overflowed onto the trans road and submerged residential areas,” he said.
Based on Central Sulawesi BPBD data, 17 families were affected in Tingkulang Village and two residents were flooded.Then in West Tomini Village there were 45 families affected by the tidal flood.
“A total of 25 houses were submerged in two hamlets of West Tomini Village. The number of people affected reached 149 people,” he explained.
However, said Akris, the tidal flood did not cause any casualties.However, there were two families from Tingkulang Village residents who took temporary refuge in their relatives’ homes.
“BPBD Central Sulawesi together with TRC Parigi Moutong carried out an initial assessment. They also coordinated with village officials for treatment. The water condition is starting to recede. Monitoring is still being carried out to anticipate further flooding,” he concluded.
