Two top Indonesian athletes decided to retire after appearing on
SEA Games 2025
.The two athletes are I Gede Siman Sudartawa and Edgar Xavier.
I Gede Siman Sudartawa is Indonesia’s mainstay athlete from the aquatic sport swimming event, while Edgar Xavier is from wushu.Both are icons of their respective sports.
I Gede Siman is a winner of 20 SEA Games medals.He achieved this achievement in eight editions of the SEA Games since 2011 as the first edition.

Of the 20 SEA Games medals, nine were gold medals.Four gold medals were won from the 2011 SEA Games, two gold in 2013, one in 2017, and another gold in 2019.
The 2025 SEA Games will be Siman’s last international event with his achievement in winning a bronze medal in the men’s 50m backstroke event.Siman’s ‘farewell’ moment was celebrated in Thailand.
“What is certain is that I am very proud of this swimming team now. I ask for help to maintain it, encourage each other, encourage each other,” said Siman in the Indonesian Aquatic upload.
“The point is, if we unite, we can definitely do it. The proof is starting to emerge now that young swimmers are getting cooler and cooler. The main thing is, stay enthusiastic, stay solid.”
Edgar Xavier also expressed the decision to retire as an athlete.Edgar retired from wushu after winning the 2025 SEA games gold medal in the changquan/daoshu/gunshu number.

“Yes, that’s the first consideration, it’s definitely family, because priorities definitely change,” said Edgar on Tuesday (16/12), as reported by Antara.
The 2022 World Championship gold medalist is currently awaiting the birth of his first child, who is expected to be born in March next year.Due to this situation, Edgar wanted to give priority to his wife and future children, so he decided to retire.
“And this will be the birth of my first child too. So I was born into a family that has always been there for me since I was little. And I want to do the same for my child and family,” said Edgar.
