Nova Arianto
with the U-20 Indonesian National Team.
Nova Arianto officially became the coach of the Indonesian U-20 National Team by PSSI on Thursday (20/11).Nova moved up to class after managing the Indonesian U-17 National Team at the 2025 U-17 World Cup.
In a press statement, Zwiers admitted that he was happy with Nova Arianto.The Dutch coach praised the former senior Indonesian national team assistant coach.

“This is a great moment, happy and proud to have Nova at U-20 to prepare the next generation. Nova is a great person with great leadership to form sustainable local players,” said Zwiers.
Zwiers then revealed Nova Arianto’s target with the Indonesian U-20 National Team, namely qualifying for the last eight of the 2027 U-20 Asian Cup.
“Nova has worked well in the World Cup. I am enthusiastic about working with her to move up in class at U-20 to qualify for the U-20 Asian Cup as the top eight in Asia,” said Zwiers.
Nova Arianto’s journey with the U-20 National Team towards the 2027 U-20 Asian Cup will start from the qualifying round which will take place from August to September 2026. The final round of the 2027 U-20 Asian Cup itself is planned to be held from March 24 to April 10 2027.
Chairman of the PSSI National Team Body (BTN) Sumardji said there were a number of reasons why his party chose Nova Arianto to be the coach of the U-20 National Team.
“The first is based on our assessment regarding how we work, the second is about consistency. Coach Nova has the consistency to bring our children to meet their hopes and desires,” said Sumardji.
“We assess that Nova maintains player mentality and discipline to maintain player performance.”This can be seen from the real work of coach Nova who was able to qualify for the Asian Cup and then on to the U-17 World Cup,” he added.
