Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd.announced the launch of two new electric scooter models for the Indian market, one of which is
Aerox E
.
In its written statement, Yamaha said the Aerox E was an electric motorbike developed from the popular Aerox 155 model with a conventional engine.This can be seen from the Aerox’s physical form which is maintained, but without an exhaust.

This model was chosen to be developed as an electric motorbike because the company considers that the petrol-engined Aerox has been well received by the public.
This motorbike is considered successful in presenting Yamaha’s typical sporty driving sensation, while the exterior design is suitable for conversion to an electric motorbike.

Through this model the company hopes to build a premium brand image in the Indian electric vehicle (EV) market.
Apart from the Aerox E, Yamaha also launched the EC-06, an electric scooter developed with River Mobility Private Limited.This scooter carries a Stylish & Cool theme, suitable for customers with an active daily lifestyle.
If the Aerox E will be produced by Yamaha India, the EC-06 is planned to be handled by River Mobility.So far, Yamaha has not revealed any technical details regarding the battery capacity or mileage of the motorbike.
In January 2024, Yamaha Motor has invested in River and since then they are exploring collaboration opportunities in the electric vehicle business in the Indian market.The EC-06 is the first product born from this partnership.
In addition, Yamaha Motor has set a target to achieve carbon neutrality in Scope 3 Category 11, namely emissions resulting from product use by 2050 through a multi-pathway approach.The launch of the Aerox E and EC-06 models in the Indian market is one of the company’s initiatives towards achieving this target.
