Workers who are members of the Confederation of Indonesian Trade Unions (
KSPI
) demands a provincial minimum wage (
UMP
) Jakarta will rise 6.9 percent in 2026.
This was voiced by KSPI President Said Iqbal noting that the specific index or alpha used was 0.9.
If Jakarta’s 2025 UMP is IDR 5,396,761, an increase of 6.9 percent will make wages in DKI next year IDR 5,769,137.

“Workers are struggling at 0.9, the index. So, what is the 0.9 index? DKI (Jakarta), for example, rose to 6.9 percent,” explained Iqbal in a press conference via Zoom, Wednesday (17/12).
“Perhaps nationally, yes, on average (the 2026 UMP increase) is 7.2 percent. If we use national economic growth, inflation is national. If national inflation is 2.86 percent, economic growth is 5.04 percent. With these figures, it is 7.2 percent-7.3 percent,” he added.
According to him, this is in accordance with the 4 options offered by the Labor Party from the start.Iqbal emphasized that from the start his party proposed four options, namely an increase of 6.5 percent;up 6 percent-7 percent;increase of 6.5 percent-6.8 percent;or use an alpha of 0.6 to 0.9.
He claimed that the Minister of Manpower (Menaker) Yassierli and the Chairman of the National Economic Council (DEN) Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan initially offered an alpha of 0.3-0.8.However, President Prabowo Subianto rejected all of his subordinates’ proposals.
“This means that the President (Prabowo Subianto) does not want low wages. What is the proof? The proposal of the Minister of Manpower, the proposal of the National Economic Council, Mr. Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, the proposal of the Coordinating Minister for the Economy, Mr. Airlangga, was rejected by the president. The president changed it to 0.5 to 0.9,” he said.
KSPI demands that governors obey President Prabowo’s orders, namely setting the 2026 UMP with the highest alpha number.Said Iqbal then expressed complaints from workers that DKI Jakarta and West Java were preparing to use a certain index, aka low alpha.
He emphasized that he refused if the regional heads did not set the 2026 UMP based on an alpha of 0.9.For example, DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung, who is called the Labor Party, wants to use an alpha of 0.7.
“How come there haven’t been any instructions for negotiating yet? Like the Governor of West Java (Dedi Mulyadi) 0.5, the Governor of DKI Jakarta (Pramono Anung) 0.7.
“For DKI, for example (alpha) 0.5, the increase (UMP 2026) is only 4.3 percent. We reject it, if it uses 0.5 we totally reject it!”he continued.
Despite accepting the 2026 UMP formula, the man who is also President of the Labor Party rejects the Government Regulation (PP) on Wages. He emphasized that workers were never invited to formulate the regulation.
Iqbal claims that he only participated in one socialization event on November 3 2025, and it only lasted two hours. He then questioned the point of the need for a decent living (KHL) which was deemed not to be stated in the government regulations.
“If you use BPS (Central Statistics Agency) data, you should use the cost of living survey which we know as SBH. Living in Jakarta can be IDR 15 million. It is impossible to live in Jakarta for IDR 5 million, according to the BPS cost of living survey, per month,” explained Iqbal.
According to Iqbal, the contents of the government regulation use a definition of KHL which has no legal basis, thereby harming workers.
