admitted that he had received the blessing of his uncle, the 13th Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia
Ma’ruf Amin
after his appointment at the PBNU Syariah Plenary meeting, Tuesday (9/12) evening.
In his first speech after the closed plenary, Zulfa admitted that he was Ma’ruf’s nephew.
“I am Kiai Haji Ma’ruf Amin’s nephew, and I have asked for his blessing. And hopefully, God willing, everyone’s blessing will make this journey easier,” said Zulfa.

Zulfa’s blood relationship with Ma’ruf is connected through her mother, Nyai Haji Marhumah Latifah, who is the daughter of Nyai Hajjah Maimunah who is also Ma’ruf Amin’s mother.
Ma’ruf himself was not present at the event, even though he was listed as one of the invitees because he held Mustasyar’s position with KH Mustofa Bisri.
After the event, Zulfa said Ma’ruf couldn’t attend because he couldn’t leave the house much.He said that the former MUI chairman was resting a lot.However, he made sure he had received approval.
“He can’t go out. He’s been resting a lot. I’ve come home,” he said.
Zulfa was appointed as Acting General Chair of PBNU based on a Plenary meeting initiated by Syuriah officials at the Sultan Hotel, Central Jakarta, Tuesday (9/12) evening.In a press conference after the event, he admitted that he wanted to be a solution for NU’s future and did not want to be part of past conflicts.
“I also said that I don’t want to be part of the conflict of the past. But I want to be a solution for this jam’iyah for the future,” said Zulfa in his first statement after the appointment.
