.Vicky admitted that he changed his boxing strategy and style until he succeeded in winning gold.
Vicky managed to emerge victorious after defeating Thitisan Panmot from Thailand.A score of 3-2 for Vicky made him successful in presenting a gold medal for the Indonesian contingent.
“I don’t think about who the opponent will be, even if it is the host. This is the last day, and I believe in the preparations I have made,” said Vicky as quoted by Antara.

Ahead of the SEA Games, Vicky made thorough preparations by training in Vietnam, Uzbekistan and Thailand.Because of that, Vicky came to the SEA Games full of confidence.
During the preparation period, Vicky also changed his boxing style and strategy.He was asked to take advantage of his tall posture and distance advantage to play more safely.
“My style is actually not like this. But the coach knows I am experienced. I was asked to change the way I compete,” said Vicky.
“I trust the coach 100 percent,” he continued.
Before reaching the final, Vicky beat Abdul Qaiyum Ariffin from Malaysia with a score of 3-2 in the quarter-finals.After that, Vicky won 5-0 over Nguyen Minh Cuong.
