Xanana Gusmao
stole attention after he rubbed the head of the Governor of the Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY), Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono X, at the Kepatihan Complex, Yogyakarta City, last Monday (8/12).
The hair stroking moment occurred after the two met at Gedhong Wilis.When he left Wilis and met journalists, Xanana expressed his surprise at seeing the Sultan who looked youthful.

“Want to know something? Want to know something?”Xanana asked reporters.
“Physically, you can now see the two of us. Physically, I am older than His Majesty. However, his ID card is 2 months and a half older than me,” said Xanana.
Xanana then stroked the King of Yogyakarta Palace’s right side of hair, which was still jet black.He compared it to his hair which had all turned white.
“Physically because of this (the Sultan’s hair) it’s all black,” said Xanana while rubbing, which was immediately greeted by the Sultan’s smile.
Xanana visited Yogyakarta on Monday to meet with Sultan Hamengku Buwono X. The visit underscored the deep historical and cultural ties between the Yogyakarta Sultanate and the country of Timor Leste.
Xanana said his visit was purely for friendship.Yogyakarta and Timor Leste have long had cooperation in the education sector, with thousands of East Timorese youth coming to Yogyakarta to study.
