The National Nutrition Agency (BGN) said the MBG program will continue even though schools are closed.Head of BGN Dadan Hindayana has prepared a number of alternative distribution of MBG menus for students during the Christmas holidays.
According to him, the distribution of MBG to pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers and children under five will run as it should.Meanwhile, for school students, the Nutrition Fulfillment Service Unit (SPPG) or MBG kitchen will carry out an inventory of the number of children who are willing to take MBG food to school.

“For pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers and toddlers as usual. For school children, each SPPG needs to carry out an inventory of how many and how often children are willing to go to school,” Dadan was quoted as saying.

For the MBG menu during the school holidays, SPPG will provide ready-to-eat menus such as eggs, fruit, milk, shredded meat or beef jerky. This menu runs for a maximum of 4 days.
“At the start of the holiday, ready-to-eat food is provided for a maximum of 4 days with quality menus such as eggs, fruit, milk, shredded meat or beef jerky,” added Dadan.
Apart from taking students to school, BGN also provides the option of delivering MBG food to each student’s home. This option emerged because a number of parents or students were reluctant to take the MBG menu to school.
“For the remaining days, if students are willing to come to school, they will be distributed to schools. If not, we need to start recording delivery mechanisms to homes or pick them up at SPPG,” he said.
“We are currently designing a delivery system after 4 holidays,” he added.
Deputy Head of BGN Nanik Sudaryati Deyang said that the distribution of the MBG program during holidays depends on the agreement between the school and the students.
“For school children, it depends on the agreement with the school, if the student wants to take it at school, we will give it, if they don’t want it, we won’t give it. So those at school won’t force it,” said Nanik.
Nanik explained that the MBG menu during the holidays can also be adjusted to include dry ingredients. The menu prepared consists of fruit, milk, bread and salted eggs.
“MBG is used as dry ingredients (not processed), for example fruit, milk, bread (made by MSMEs), and eggs. To make them last longer, use salted eggs. The mechanism can be delivered to school in two or three days, then the students who want to take them are registered. Pick them up at school,” he said.
He said that students’ parents were also allowed to take the MBG menu to school.BGN is said to be committed to improving nutrition for children even though schools are closed.
“The parents can take it, it’s already placed in a bag. In principle, we provide nutritious food to improve nutrition, so even though it’s a holiday, we try to ensure that the children still get nutritional intake,” concluded Nanik.
