Isnawa said that the first seeding was carried out at 09.10-11.26 WIB targeting the waters south of Ujung Kulon with a cruising altitude of 8,400-8,600 feet.
Next, the second seeding mission will be at 12.22-14.51 WIB, with a seeding area in the waters south of Ujung Kulon and waters south of Sukabumi at an altitude of 10,000 feet.
“The third flight was at 15.38-17.00 WIB in Lebak, Pandeglang, southern and western waters of Banten. With a total of 2.4 tonnes of NaCl,” he said.
Isnawa explained that the implementation of the sixth day of OMC was carried out with a layered seeding pattern in the western and southern waters of Banten, to optimize the process of controlling the growth of potential heavy rain clouds before they reach the Jabodetabek area.
Based on the team’s observations, during the first flight, cumulus humilis and cumulus congestus clouds were observed around the waters of Ujung Kulon with cloud tops reaching 8,000-10,000 feet, and the dominant wind direction was from the east-northeast (6-18 knots).
On the second flight, cumulus mediocris to congestus clouds developed in the Lebak, Pandeglang and western waters of Banten with cloud tops reaching 9,000-11,000 feet.
Meanwhile, on the third flight, towering cumulus clouds were observed with high potential for rain in the waters south of Banten, and the dominant west wind direction was 14-18 knots.
Isnawa added that BPBD DKI Jakarta together with BMKG and TNI AU continue to carry out routine evaluations of seeding results to ensure the effectiveness of the operation.
“We continue to coordinate every day with BMKG and the Indonesian Air Force to determine the most potential seeding points. With this collaboration, we are trying to keep rainfall under control and minimize the potential for inundation or flooding in Jakarta,” he said.
DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung said he would carry out weather modifications in line with the potential for extreme weather to occur in Jakarta in the next 25 days.
He said the provincial government had coordinated with the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) to carry out weather modifications.
“Starting yesterday, we have actually been working together with the BMKG and also with the National Disaster Management Agency to carry out weather modifications. We have prepared the budget because there is a possibility that in the next 25 days there will be several anomalies and extreme weather,” said Pramono at Jakarta City Hall, Friday (31/10).
