) regarding Israel’s steps to arbitrarily build a wall in the southern region of the country.
On Friday (14/11), the UN Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) stated that the Israeli military had built a wall in southern Lebanon, near the Blue Line designated by the UN as the border.

Lebanese President Joseph Aoun’s office has instructed relevant officials “to submit an urgent complaint to the UN Security Council against Israel over the construction of a concrete wall on Lebanon’s southern border that extends beyond the Blue Line.”

Aoun also requested that the complaint be “supplemented by a report published by the UN refuting Israel’s denials regarding the construction of the wall”.
According to UNIFIL, last month peacekeepers conducted a survey of the T-type concrete wall built by the Israeli military southwest of Yaroun and found that it “crosses the Blue Line.”
Beirut claimed Israel’s actions made more than 4,000 square meters of Lebanese territory inaccessible to Lebanese citizens.
Additional surveys carried out this month of other construction showed that “sections of the wall southeast of Yaroun also cross the Blue Line”, UNIFIL said.
UNIFIL then called Israel’s construction action a violation of Lebanese sovereignty.
UNIFIL added that the findings in October had been conveyed to the Israeli military and it had requested that the wall be removed.

Regarding these accusations, the Israeli military acknowledged the move but emphasized that “the wall does not cross the Blue Line”.
The Israeli military said the wall was part of a broader military plan “the construction of which begins in 2022”.
“Since the start of the war, and as part of the lessons learned from it, the Israeli military has accelerated a number of steps, including strengthening physical barriers along the northern border,” the statement added.
Israel was involved in a fierce war by firing missiles at each other by Hezbollah in southern Lebanon, until finally the state intervened.
Under the ceasefire agreement, Israel was supposed to withdraw its troops from southern Lebanon, but is still stationing troops in five areas considered strategic.
Israel also continues to launch regular attacks on Lebanon, claiming to target Hezbollah sites and members.
