Trump’s opponents, including California Governor Gavin Newsom, have used the tape to question his performance as president.

Responding to the viral recording, White House spokesman Taylor Roger denied that Trump was asleep. “The president was not asleep; in fact he was talking continuously and answering many questions from the press during this announcement,” Roger told hitclubapk3, Saturday (8/11).
