In a tight competition, Basral was able to beat home athlete Send Petkiree who won a silver medal with 153.22 points, as well as his compatriot Sianggoueng Thawatchai who had to settle for bronze after recording 152.31 points.
After confirming victory, Basral’s emotions broke.He was seen crying in the arena before being approached by his colleagues and Indonesian team officials.
