Vadel’s attorney, Oya Abdul Malik, stated that his party was disappointed with the decision of the DKI Jakarta High Court which increased the man’s sentence from 9 years to 12 years in prison.

“Yes, his response was just to laugh. He said, ‘It’s funny, our law is funny’,” said Oya Abdul Malik as reported

“The family is the same, they just say, ‘It’s true, there’s no such thing as justice. What are the facts, what’s the verdict’,” he continued.
“Talking about law is not just talking about law. Justice is talking about humanity and love. This is clearly and clearly not read, not read at all by the Appeals Council. That’s all,” said Oya.
Even though he was disappointed, Oya said that the psychological condition of Vadel Badjideh and his family was not disturbed.They are also said to still be confident that they will get justice in future legal efforts.

The South Jakarta District Court previously sentenced Vadel Badjideh to 9 years in prison in connection with a case of sexual intercourse and abortion involving Nikita Mirzani’s child, LM.
Feeling dissatisfied with the sentence, Vadel then filed an appeal to the DKI Jakarta High Court.However, on Thursday (6/11), the panel of judges actually increased the sentence to 12 years in prison and a fine of IDR 1 billion.
“Sentencing the Defendant, therefore, with imprisonment for 12 (twelve) years and a fine of IDR 1,000,000,000 (one billion rupiah), if the fine is not paid then it will be replaced with imprisonment for 6 (six) months,” said the verdict published on Thursday (6/11).
One of the aggravating reasons is the fact that the abortion was carried out twice, which is considered very serious and left a deep psychological impact on the victim.
