(USA) nearly collided with a JetBlue commercial aircraft flying nearby
Venezuela
on Friday (12/12).
Based on a recording of the JetBlue pilot’s conversation with the air traffic control tower, the pilot reported that his plane almost collided with a US military plane that was flying right in JetBlue’s flight path.
“We almost had a mid-air collision,” the pilot reported.

This incident involved JetBlue flight number 1112 which departed from Curaçao, a small island region located off the coast of Venezuela.This commercial aircraft was heading to John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York City, USA.
“We just had another plane passed right in front of us within 5 miles, maybe 2 or 3 miles. But this was a United States Air Force aerial refueling plane and it was at the same altitude as us,” said the JetBlue pilot.
The pilot also said that this incident made him have to lower the altitude of his plane to prevent a collision.
In the recording, air traffic controllers responded to the pilot by stating that “the presence of an unidentified aircraft in our airspace is simply outrageous.”
JetBlue airline on Sunday (14/12) admitted that it had reported this incident to federal authorities.
“We have reported this incident to federal authorities and will participate in any investigation,” JetBlue spokesman Derek Dombrowski said.
“Our crew members are trained on proper procedures for a variety of aviation situations, and we appreciate our crew for immediately reporting this situation to our leadership team,” he added.
The Associated Press has requested a response from the Pentagon regarding this incident.The Pentagon directed the news agency to request a response from the US Air Force.
So far there has been no comment from the Washington Air Force.
This incident occurred as the US increased its pressure on Venezuela under the pretext of eradicating drug trafficking in the Caribbean.Washington has deployed a number of military aircraft and the world’s largest aircraft carrier to carry out this operation.
Last month, the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) issued a warning asking planes to exercise caution throughout Venezuelan airspace.
The FAA said the security situation in Venezuela was deteriorating and there was increased military activity in and around the country.
