US President Donald Trump delivered the news on Wednesday (10/12) when meeting business leaders at the White House.

“We just seized a tanker off the coast of Venezuela, a large, very large, in fact the largest tanker we have ever seized,” Trump was quoted as saying

Trump did not provide further details about the seizure.When asked what the US would do with the ship, Trump said he “would keep it”.
The seizure of this tanker comes as the US increases its pressure on Venezuela.The US recently deployed the largest warships and aircraft in the world under the pretext of fighting drugs.
The US accuses Venezuela and its president, Nicolas Maduro, of illegally smuggling narcotics into Washington.Maduro denies this and accuses the US of intending to overthrow his government.
In response to the tanker seizure, Venezuela stated that the US had committed “blatant theft” as well as committing “international piracy”.
The Venezuelan government also emphasized that it would “defend sovereignty, natural resources and national dignity with firm determination” and would report this piracy to international bodies, as quoted from
