Israeli Transport Minister Miri Regev and his entourage immediately flew to Abu Dhabi to discuss cooperation on the project.
The fast train line connecting the UAE and Israel will be built to support trade between the two countries.
The Israeli delegation to Abu Dhabi is also to strengthen the regional cooperation needed between Saudi Arabia and Tel Aviv.
Israeli media i24 said the construction of the train project was intended to create a commercial route that would make Israel a major trade center.
Based on the plan, trade commodities from India’s Mudra Port will go to ports in the UAE by sea and then be continued by fast train in the UAE via Saudi Arabia and Jordan before reaching Haifa. From there the goods will be transported to Europe.
So far, trade commodities from India and the UAE still pass through the Allenby Bridge, the link between Jordan and the West Bank, by passing through complicated bureaucracy.
Israel’s plan to build a rail line aims to allow trucks coming from the UAE to enter Israel with direct permits and without lengthy administrative procedures.
