This incident was confirmed directly by the Turkish Ministry of Defense.The ministry revealed that the C-130 Hercules aircraft crashed on the Georgia-Azerbaijan border.

“Our C-130 military cargo plane which departed from Azerbaijan to return to its homeland, crashed on the Georgia-Azerbaijan border. On board there were 20 personnel including the flight crew,” said the Turkish Defense Ministry in its official statement, as reported by Antara.

Currently search and rescue (SAR) operations are still ongoing.The Georgian government also deployed an emergency team to help find the wreckage.
In footage broadcast by Azerbaijani media, the plane was seen spinning horizontally before crashing and causing thick black smoke.Other footage, allegedly taken at the scene, shows the wreckage of the plane burning in the middle of a field and is a spectacle for local residents.
The Turkish Ministry of Defense asked not to distribute images or videos of the accident out of respect for the victims’ families and the investigation process.
Responding to this incident, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan expressed his deep condolences over this incident.He said the government was working with Georgian authorities to reach the crash site.
“We mourn our martyrs. Efforts are being made together with the Georgian authorities to reach the wreckage of the plane,” he said.
Georgia’s Interior Ministry confirmed the plane crashed in the Signaghi region, about five kilometers from the border with Azerbaijan.
Georgia’s air traffic control service, Sakaeronavigatsia, said the plane disappeared from radar several minutes after entering Georgian airspace without having time to send an emergency signal.
“The Turkish C-130 disappeared from Sakaeronavigatsia’s radar a few minutes after entering Georgian airspace, without sending any distress signals,” the agency’s official statement said.
