The attack on ISIS, according to Trump, was ‘a very serious response’.It is claimed that US troops have started carrying out the counterattack since Friday (19/12).

US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth explained that attacks on the ISIS group were not beating the drums of war.However, he emphasized that America must take this step as a form of response.
“US forces initiated OPERATION HAWKEYE STRIKE in Syria to eliminate ISIS, infrastructure and weapons sites in direct response to the attack on US forces that occurred on December 13 in Palmyra, Syria,” explained Hegseth on social media X, quoted from

The Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Kemenlu) also made a firm statement.They did not directly comment on US retaliation, but Syria emphasized its commitment to fighting ISIS.
They even ensure that ISIS will not have a safe haven in Syria.
Separately, US President Donald Trump was furious over the deaths of two soldiers and one civilian as a result of attacks in Syria.Trump accused the three US citizens of being killed in an attack carried out by ISIS.
“We mourn the loss of three great American patriots in Syria, two soldiers and one civilian interpreter. Likewise, we pray for three wounded soldiers who were just confirmed to be doing well,” Trump wrote on Truth Social, just after the attacks in Syria.
“This is an ISIS attack on the US and Syria, in very dangerous Syrian territory, which is not fully controlled by them. Syrian President Ahmed Al Sharaa is extremely angry and disturbed by this attack. There will be very serious retaliation!”he stressed.
ISIS seized large swathes of Syria and Iraq in 2014 during the civil war, before being territorially defeated in the country five years later.However, its fighters still maintain their presence, especially in desert areas.
